Why should you blog?

by Charlee Koff

You are probably wondering what advantages there are for blogging. Well, it has to do with SEO (search engine optimization). With the rapid growth of the Internet over the past decade, it has become increasingly difficult to be found at the top of the search engines. Many companies have built their business around optimizing websites to achieve top ranking.

Costs can be month or yearly and can run anywhere from $3000-$5000 and up. One of the main services offered is to constantly update the site with relevant content as well as optimizing with “key words”. Without going into too much detail, the idea is to “talk” to the web crawlers that look for certain qualities and site characteristics; when these closely match a searcher’s “Key words” the web crawlers rank your site higher in the search engine. Hence, adding relevant content and constantly updating your blog will improve your sites ranking over time.

What is a blog?

The term "Blog" comes from the combination of two words, “web” and “log” Simply stated, it is a is a type of website where entries are made just like a personal journal or diary. The “log” is displayed in a reverse chronological order.  blogs are all over the World Wide Web these days and cover a myriad of topics that range from personal hobbies to political ideas. Not only is the information displayed in text, but it is possible to add graphical images as well as links to other blogs or pages on other websites.

Star Power - NY

by Charlee Jacobs

When arriving in New York, where else do I land but at Yankee Stadium the home of the "king of swat." The Mariners were winning 4-2, but the Yankees tied it up in the bottom of the 9th. With thunder and lightening all around, we could not endure waiting out the 102 degree tropical down pour. However, I did hear that the Yankee's won on the morning news.
